Audrey Smail
UX DesignerAudrey credits a high school graphic design class for igniting her passion for creative problem solving. Guided by her teacher's recommendation, Audrey pursued a degree in graphic design with a focus on business at Ferris State University. Her exposure to various disciplines—from print to photography to animation—led her to the dynamic field of user experience (UX) as the perfect blend.
Audrey's standout experience prior to joining MichiganLabs was her role in developing the COVID-19 microsite for Corewell (previously Spectrum Health). Working in an intense and fast-paced environment, she not only supported her community but also learned valuable lessons from industry leaders on delivering crucial information swiftly and iteratively. Curiosity drives Audrey’s work. She’s always eager to understand how things work, which she uses to help clients translate their ideas into cohesive solutions.
Choosing MichiganLabs was a natural fit for Audrey. The unique projects and opportunity to continuously grow her career knowledge—paired with the company’s smart and passionate team—all appeal to her. “I couldn’t have created a better job for myself if I tried,” she jokes.
Outside of work, Audrey continues being creative—loving knitting, crocheting, and crafting other functional items. She finds joy in hanging out with her poodle, playing games, and exploring local restaurants (complete with a list on her fridge to stay organized).
